How do we work out how much fabric we require for a voile? Voile fabrics can be railroaded(for explanation please see above) when measuring up for one of these you will need only the standard drop and width measurements. As railroaded fabrics are woven in a number of differing widths, you would select the width that closest measures your drop. As an example if your drop was 240cms and the fabric of your chosen design was made in 180, 220, 270 and 300cm widths you would need the 270cm width fabric. You would then only need to workout your flat width of the curtain to decide how much fabric you require.
What are the lead times on special orders? Made to measure services on blinds, voiles and curtain poles take up to 21 days to deliver, whilst most non-stock fabrics are available within 14 days. These times should be extended during very busy trading periods and during the traditional August shutdown when most Southern-European fabric mills close for their annual holidays.
What are your delivery charges? England, Scotland (not Highlands and Islands or parts of Mid-Scotland) and Wales carrage is free for orders over £100.00. Orders under £100.00 net are charged at £8.50 with an additional £5.00 surcharge for orders to the isles of Wight and Scilly.

What is ‘Railroading’ in fabrics? Railroaded fabrics on this web site and in our catalogue are indicated by a # after the fabric width. Railroading is when a fabric is woven with the intention of taking the width(salvage to salvage) and using this as the drop of the curtain, usually fabrics of this type are made in a variety of widths up to and in excess of 3mts. This type of weaving gives the advantage of the maker being able to make curtains of any width without any seams, this type of weaving is generally found in voiles.
